Wilma "Ruth" Doty, 100 of Albion, IL died on March 12, 2025 at her home.
She was born on Nov. 17, 1924 in Albion, IL to William and Idella May (Severns) Shaw. The eighth child of ten, she was the last remaining of her siblings. Ruth had six brothers: Kenneth, Joseph, Ellis, Lyman, Eugene, and Thomas (Jack) Shaw. Her three sisters were Kathleen Bell, Jessie Schroeder, and Barbara Ann Rodgers.
She married Arthur Sullivan "Bill" Doty on Nov. 07, 1947. They had two daughters, Lynette Ann Denney-Dalton and Jill Alaine Gill. Arthur and Lynette proceeded her in death. She is survived by Jill Alaine (Mike) Gill and 3 grandchildren, Eric (Amy) Denney, Heather Laine Gill, and Heath Collin (Jackie) Gill.
Ruth was a graduate of Albion High School in 1943. In high school she worked as the head teller at the movie theater in Albion where they had several shows weekly. During World War II, she worked in a local factory on radio parts. Ruth later worked for several years at City Hall doing all the bi
