89 year old Fairfield resident, Pender Savage passed away at 9:35 a.m. in the Skilled Care Unit of Fairfield Memorial Hospital on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
Pender was born August 29, 1935 in Burnt Prairie, Illinois to Pender L and Mary (O'Dell) Savage. Pender married Velda Gwaltney on July 8, 1957 in Valparaiso, Indiana. She preceded him in death on November 10, 2022. He worked 13 years for the Belt Railroad and was a life-long Teamster's truck driver for various truck lines. Pender was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Fairfield, Illinois and prior to that, the Liberty Baptist Church in Burnt Prairie, Illinois. For several years he drove the Fairfield Baptist Church bus.
Pender enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events. He was a vintage car show enthusiast and enjoyed restoring his 1955 red Ford F-100 pickup truck. He won Best in Show at the 2024 Fairfield Fall Fun Fest Car Show.
Pender is survived by his two sons; David (Donna)
